OUTLINE OF THE WKO  REGULATIONS

The World Karate Organization, is a democratically run  organization, with its headquarter in Japan. The main purpose of the  Organization is to follow the spirit of Kyokusin Karate and devote itself to  spread and develop Kyokushin Karate world wide. As a contribution to society ,  the WKO shall work on the development of personal character through training of  the mind and body, and also for raising healthy, young people.

The highest decisive authority within the Organization is the  General Assembly which is formed by the affiliated countries and their Branch  Chiefs.The General Assembly meets every 4th year, in connection with the World  Tournament, and it is also possible to have extra meetings in between. The Board  of Directors is elected by the General Assembly and has 15 members.

The  President as well as the Board Members and other officials of the Organization  are elected with the term of office of four years. The President must be  stationed in Japan.

The Organization is devided into ten  Regions:

1. Africa
2. Asia
3. Central  America
4. Europe
5. Middle East
6. North America
7.  Russia
8. South America
9. South Pacific
10.  Japan

Each Region has their own organization, and elects a Regional  Representative to represent the Region in the Board. Each Region consists of  several countries, and each country select a Country Representative among the  Branch Chiefs in that Country. A Branch Chief is recommended by the Country, the  Region and must then be approved of by the Board.


The main activities of the WKO are the World Tournament and the  World Cup Championship which are alternatively held every second year. The World  Tournament is held in Japan whilst the World Cup is held by the different  Regions. The WKO does also conducts seminars and any other activities which  assist in promoting and spreading Kyokushin Karate world-wide. Each Region and  Country do also conduct tournaments, seminars and camps. The Organization is  constantly growing.
